Sisters of Hadith Institute — Membership Terms & Conditions

1. Welcome and agreement to these terms

Welcome to Sisters of Hadith Institute ("SOH", "we", "us"). These terms explain how membership works, what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you in return. They apply to everyone in our Skool community, including members on a free trial.

By joining, starting a free trial, or remaining a member once these terms take effect, you confirm that you have read them and agree to them. If you do not agree, please cancel your membership and leave the community. You are free to do this at any time.

If you were already a member when these terms were first posted, they take effect for you 14 days after that date, giving you time to decide whether to continue.

These terms apply alongside Skool's own Terms of Service. Skool's terms govern your Skool account, payments and billing. Where the two overlap on those matters, Skool's terms take priority.

2. Membership, payments and free trials

Membership is a rolling subscription that renews automatically, and you are charged at the start of each billing period until you cancel. Payments are processed through Skool, and the price and billing period are shown on our Skool page when you join.

What your membership covers. Your payment gives you access to the community and to the content available on SOH during each billing period you are a member. It is not a payment in advance for future courses, classes or programmes.

Free trials: Where we offer a free trial, its length is shown on our Skool page. Your membership converts to a paid subscription automatically when the trial ends, and the first payment is taken at that point. If you do not wish to continue, it is your responsibility to cancel before the trial ends. Except where the law gives you a right to a refund, payments taken because a trial was not cancelled in time are not refundable. Free trials are for new members only, one per person.

Who can join: SOH is a learning community for women. You must meet Skool's minimum age requirements, and if you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf. Each membership is for one person only.

Failed payments: If a payment fails, Skool may pause or end your access until the payment is made. Please keep your payment details up to date.

3. Cancelling and refunds

You are free to cancel your membership at any time, for any reason, online through your Skool account settings. Cancelling is your responsibility: simply leaving the community or no longer logging in does not stop your subscription.

After you cancel. You will keep access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. After that, your access to the community and its content ends.

Refunds. Except where the law gives you a right to a refund, payments are non-refundable, including for partly used billing periods or content you did not use. In exceptional circumstances we may offer a refund at our discretion. If you have any concern about a payment, please message us first so we can look into it together.

Your right to cancel. Depending on where you live, the law may give you a short period to cancel an online purchase for a refund, such as 14 days in the UK and EU. When you join, you ask us to give you immediate access to our content, so any such period starts on the day you join, including the day a free trial begins. You also agree that, where the law allows, this right ends once you start accessing our content. If the law treats any part of your membership as a service rather than digital content and you cancel within that period, you agree to pay for the part of the service provided up to the date you cancel.

Your legal rights. Nothing in these terms affects the rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.

4. How our teaching works

SOH is a living academy, and our content grows and changes over time. Courses, curricula, release schedules and resources that we share or advertise describe our current plans, and we will always aim to deliver them as described. Teaching, however, depends on people and circumstances, so we keep the flexibility to adjust.

From time to time we may:

  • change release dates, upload schedules or the order in which content is released

  • replace a text, teacher or course with a suitable alternative

  • add, update, restructure or retire courses and resources

  • pause new releases for a period of time

  • in rare cases, shorten, postpone or discontinue a course or programme, or part of one

We would only make changes like these for good reason. This includes the health, availability or personal circumstances of our teachers, maintaining the quality and accuracy of what we teach, scholarly or student feedback, technical or platform issues, and events outside our reasonable control.

Where a change is significant, we will let members know in the community, in advance wherever possible, and ask for your agreement where the law requires it. Because membership is rolling and can be cancelled at any time, you are always free to decide whether SOH continues to be right for you.

5. The ʿĀlimiyyah programme

The ʿĀlimiyyah programme is part of SOH membership and is released progressively over approximately three years. Classes are self-paced: you study them in your own time while you are a member.

The curriculum: The published curriculum remains our plan for the programme, and we fully intend to deliver it. As with any programme of study running over several years, some details may be adjusted along the way, such as release dates, the format of a class, or occasionally replacing a text with a suitable equivalent. If a significant change ever became necessary, we would explain it to members in advance wherever possible.

How the programme is delivered:

To teach the curriculum well over several years, we decide how each part is delivered. This includes:

  • teaching a class by video, audio, live session or written lesson, or using an earlier SOH recording that covers the same material

  • the number, length and depth of classes for each text, and whether a text is taught through a recognised commentary

  • releasing classes weekly or in batches, with planned breaks such as Ramadan, ʿEid and the summer

  • classes being taught by our own teachers or by qualified guest teachers

  • answering questions through the community and group sessions rather than one-to-one, unless we say otherwise

A text on the curriculum counts as covered once its classes have been released in any of these ways. We aim to complete releases within about three years, and may take up to a year longer where needed, for example because of planned breaks.

Your access: Your membership gives you access to the ʿĀlimiyyah classes released while you are a member. If you cancel and later rejoin, you will have access to whatever is available at that time, under the terms in place then.

Assessment: A final assessment is planned once all classes have been released. You can sit it if you have completed the ʿĀlimiyyah and are a member at the time it is held. Completing means watching every video in full and finishing every lesson, including any mandatory reading. Your course progress on Skool must show every lesson as complete, but this alone is not proof of completion, and we may ask you to confirm or demonstrate that you have completed the work before the assessment. Recognition from SOH (see section 6) is awarded to those who pass. We will share the format, timing and requirements closer to the time.

Academic integrity: Your assessment must be your own work, completed without help from other people or AI tools unless we say otherwise. We may withhold or withdraw recognition from SOH where there has been cheating or other misconduct, including after it has been awarded.

n the unlikely event that we needed to pause or stop part of the programme, for reasons such as those in section 4, classes already released would remain available to members, or be replaced with updated versions.

How membership fees work: Your membership gives you access to everything available on SOH during each billing period. It is not a prepaid fee for the full three years, which is also why you are free to cancel at any time.

6. The nature of our teaching

Our classes and resources are for general Islamic and language education. We take great care over accuracy, but they are not a personal fatwā for your individual circumstances.

  • Personal rulings. For questions about your own situation, please consult a qualified scholar who can hear the full details.

  • Health and wellbeing. Lessons touching on health, such as the fiqh of menstruation, explain religious rulings. They are not medical advice, and you should speak to a medical professional about any health concern.

  • Differences of opinion. Where scholars differ, we may present one or more positions. Our teaching reflects our methodology and does not claim to represent every valid view.

Certificates and diplomas: Certificates, diplomas and other recognition from SOH are awarded according to criteria we set. They are the institute's recognition of your achievement, in the form of a tazkiyah confirming the study you completed and any assessment you passed. Unless we state otherwise in writing, they are not accredited academic qualifications recognised by a government or university body, and how other organisations treat them is for those organisations to decide.

7. Using our content

All classes, links, recordings, notes, booklets, flashcards, question banks, exams and other materials on SOH belong to us or are used with permission. They are provided for your own personal study while you are a member.

You are welcome to share your own learning, benefits or reflections from lessons. Please do not:

  • download, screen-record or copy our videos or audio

  • share, sell or upload our materials anywhere outside SOH, including social media, file-sharing sites or other groups

  • send Youtube links of our lectures

  • share your login or give anyone else access to your account

  • use our materials to teach, run courses or create products without our written permission

  • rewrite or recreate our materials, with AI or any other method, to share, sell or publish them, or present them as your own work

You are welcome to use AI tools to help with your own personal study. When your membership ends, your permission to use our materials ends too. You may keep notes you have written yourself, but rewriting or recreating our materials, with AI or otherwise, does not make them your own work.

Your posts: You keep ownership of what you post in the community. By posting, you allow us to display it within SOH, and we may remove posts at our discretion.

8. Community conduct and adab

SOH is a space for seeking knowledge, and we ask every member to uphold the adab of a student. In practice, this means:

  • speaking to teachers, staff and fellow members with respect and good character

  • disagreeing courteously, including where scholars differ

  • keeping other members' posts, messages and personal details private, and not sharing screenshots of them outside SOH

  • not advertising, selling or recruiting for other services without our permission

Skool's own community rules also apply. We may remove posts, restrict access, or end the membership of anyone who seriously or repeatedly breaches these terms. In serious cases this may happen without prior warning, and, except where the law requires otherwise, no refund will be given. If we need to end your membership for any other reason, we will tell you first and refund the unused part of your current billing period.

9. General terms

Privacy: Skool handles your account and payment information under its own privacy policy. As group owners, we use the information available to us, such as your name, email address, profile, your answer to our joining question and your activity in the community, only to provide your membership, communicate with you and keep a record of your agreement to these terms. We may use trusted email and automation tools to do this, some of which are based outside the UK. We do not sell your information, and we keep it only as long as these purposes and our legal obligations require. You can contact us at any time to ask what information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, subject to any records we need to keep for legal reasons or to resolve disputes. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Our responsibility to you: We work hard to keep SOH available and accurate, but we cannot promise uninterrupted access, as the platform is operated by Skool. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the total membership fees you have paid us. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes to these terms: We may update these terms as SOH grows. We will post updates in the community and on our website, with the date of the latest version. Where a change is significant, we will give reasonable notice before it takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your agreement. Continuing your membership after an update means you accept it; if you do not, you can cancel at any time.

This does not remove any protections you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live. If part of these terms cannot be enforced. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest of the terms will still apply.

Contact: For any questions about these terms or your membership, please message us via email at sistersofhadith@gmail.com
